It’s been nearly two months since the Green Bay Packers saw their season come to an end with a loss to the Detroit Lions with a playoff berth on the line. But despite all that time, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision about whether he will retire, return to the Packers, or seek a trade to another team. But it’s recently become clear that one particular team will not be signing the veteran quarterback.
According to a report from Raiders insider Hondo S. Carpenter of Sports Illustrated, the team once considered pursuing Aaron Rodgers, but the Raiders are now “looking in different directions”
“Owner Mark Davis loved the idea of adding Tom Brady, and Josh McDaniels wanted an experienced leader. But now we know that after considering making a move for Rodgers if he were to become available, the Raiders are looking in different directions. They aren’t waiting for Rodgers or the Green Bay Packers to part ways,” Carpenter wrote for Sports Illustrated.
It’s big news for the future of both Rodgers and the Raiders, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

Jets apparently want Carr. Raiders not interested. Packers want Rodgers back. What is this? Have we gone back in time 3 weeks? https://t.co/Jah7V3fzqb

Raiders fans act like the team is Aaron Rodgers away from competing for a title. They’ll be bad this season just like they have been for over 20 years. They are committing to the tank finally. https://t.co/aGsRnD6Haf

It’s all rumours & propaganda at this point of the offseason, and Hondo is clearly one of #Raiders channels to get their message out.
Teams don’t want everyone to know their plans a month before free agency. https://t.co/tnJs7zsQG1

While this adds a little clarity to Rodgers’ situation, we’ll still have to see where he ultimately signs.
