There’s a lot of mediocrity in today’s NFL, or so says a legendary seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback. The Seattle Seahawks are in the thick of that mediocrity, simultaneously a half-game back of a wild card spot but also very close to picking in the top-10 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Following a very expected fourth straight loss on Sunday to the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks dipped below .500 for the first time since Week 1. According to Tankathon, the Seahawks have “risen” up the draft board to No. 13, just a game out of a top-10 spot.
The No. 1 pick is clearly going to the Chicago Bears by way of the Carolina Panthers, while the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals seem odds-on to at least be in the top-5. Everyone else will be a bit of a mad shuffle, and a couple of teams in that 7-6 to 6-7 range will likely be in the postseason.
As for our precious third-round pick coming via the Denver Broncos, Denver sits at 7-6 and the Saints are 6-7, so the Broncos’ native third-rounder would go to the Seahawks as things stand. Tankathon’s draft board indicates Seattle would pick No. 82, while the Seahawks’ native pick would be No. 75. It’s very possible the Broncos and Saints both make the playoffs, and Denver might have a shot to win the AFC West. Essentially, Seattle doesn’t even get to relish a high third-round pick from another team, but their own third-rounder could get higher with some more losing.
