The emotions arose following a reflection of events that transpired the previous year.

On this day in 2023, Jamie Kah faced a fall at the Sires Produce Stakes. The incident resulted in multiple injuries and concussions, leaving her horse racing path in uncertainty. Thus, when she had to miss the Newmarket, heavily sedated, Dean Holland took charge of her horse, In Secret, to ride it to victory. But unfortunately, the jockey passed away a month later in a horror fall.

“I thought I was a tough person… I’m not today,” Kah told Racing.com. “I’m not happy I fell, but so happy it gave him the opportunity to win the Newmarket. Hopefully, he’s watching down on us today,” she adds. For Jamie Kah, who is aiming for a simpler life after a spree of her horse racing career stir, the win would mark the right start.

Up from her bed after battling a coma, Jamie was involved in a cocaine scandal, sparked by the surfaced pictures online.
