The No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft could get traded for the first time since 2016 when the Rams moved up to select quarterback Jared Goff.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears are “leaning towards” trading the pick. The No. 1 pick has been traded before the draft just 12 times since 1967.

The Bears went 3-14 last season with former first-round pick Justin Fields at quarterback. The former Ohio Stat quarterback was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Chicago general manager Ryan Poles told the media in January he would have to be “blown away” to draft a quarterback prospect this year. The top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft are Alabama’s Bryce Young, OSU’s C.J. Stroud, Florida’s Anthony Richardson and Kentucky’s Will Levis.

There are at least five teams drafting in the top 10 this year — the Texans, Colts, Raiders, Falcons and Panthers — in the market for a starting quarterback.
